You will:

  • learn about the history of the SDGs
  • learn about the SDGs in general
  • learn about five specific SDGs - 1- No Poverty, , 4 - Quality Education, 5 - Gender Equality, 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy, and 15 - Life on Land
  • answer the essential questions for each goal listed in this wiki
  • design an action plan for one or more goals

Project:

  • Prepare an oral presentation about your learning. Participate in a class discussion on the issues.
  • Begin planning a Capstone project around the SDGs. You may use one of the five we studied or work on one of your own.
  • Use your talent to design your Capstone project.

Grade 4:

  1. What factors affect current agricultural practices?
  2. How do current agricultural practices affect people, the environment, and/or the economy?
  3. What role do we (student, teacher, school, local community) have in ensuring a sustainable way to provide nutritious food to all who need it?

You will:

  • learn about the SDG of No Hunger
  • learn how choices we make affect current agricultural practices.
  • learn how food systems are connected to public health.
  • learn how food systems are connected to the environment.
  • learn the strengths and limitations of a local food system.
  • learn the strengths and limitations of an industrialized food system.
  • explore what can be done to address the current problems facing agriculture.

Project:

  • Create a power poster that will show children in school a food related problem with a possible solution (See here for examples.)
  • Develop a sustainability plan for our school
